This project examines the conversion of city landfill into parkland in both the Boston and New York City areas. The photographs reflect on the history of each carefully selected site and look at how our culture of consumption and waste has laid the foundation for each park. Each site's redevelopment is an act of optimism. By interviewing those who took charge of the problems and found the solutions, this series exemplifies our ability to take responsibility for past actions in our society and to move forward and educate ourselves so that we may become more responsible to the land.
