Mailing Smiles
2004
Digital Prints, moniter, video
12" x 8" x 4"

Mailing Smiles is a performance piece that documents the act of connecting with people through a small act of kindness. I personally handed people their mail through the mailbox, and then documented their reactions. I displayed 99 stills of the moment the participants reacted, and at the end a video playing all of the responses. This piece brings up issues of where human interaction can cross the line from assistance to intrusion.
